How nail varnish affected the DIY market

Growth of the creative consumer has had an enormous impact on the DIY market over the last decade. The launch of social media platforms such as Pinterest and Instagram has introduced and encouraged a constant stream of visual inspiration. With a wealth of guidance on how to achieve various effects, applications, finishes and 'on-trend' colour, female consumers have been supported and geared up to be more confident and experimental with decor and DIY.

As a result the world of fashion and beauty has merged directly into ideas for home improvements such as furniture paint to garden and home accessories. There was a forecast in 2011 on 'powder tones' from a major paint company, and since then we've seen pastel colours and matte textures filter through the nail varnish market into the world of upcycling. Now specialist chalk and matt paints have appeared within the home improvement market, which has seen an upturn in influential feminine palettes and fashion-led textures.
