The 2016 summer Olympics is officially known as the games of the XXXI Olympiad, but we commonly know it as Rio 2016, is a major international multi-sport event which keeps to the old traditions of the Olympic Games. This year it takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from the 5th to the 21st August 2016.
There are more than 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), including entrants from Kosovo and South Sudan, are scheduled to take part, which is a new record for the Olympics. 306 sets of medals are up for grabs, across 28 Olympic sports which now include rugby sevens and golf, as these were added by the international Olympic Committee in 2009. The sporting events are to take place at 33 venues in the hosts city and 5 venues in the cities of Sao Paulo, Brazil's largest city, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasilia, Brazils capital and Manaus.
The Rio Olympics has sparked a global fever and celebration; you will already have noticed the influx of vibrant colours and design appearing across all homewares.
Though this is an optimistic trend, brightly painted ceramics and bold up-scaled geometric prints found in Habitat and The Land of Nod have huge presence and will liven up our home and capture the spirit of a Brazilian carnival.
So in true festival and Olympic spirits we’ve put together our own range of Rio Olympic fever for you to browse.
